The open-source, cross-platform news aggregator from Cincom Systems lets you stay on top of your favorite RSS and Atom feeds. You can have a central location from which you can access the content published by your favorite sites and, if you want to, you can easily access those sites from the BottomFeeder application.

The BottomFeeder installation file for Windows is 18.9MB in size. A simple setup wizard shows up and takes you through the process of installing BottomFeeder when you run this file. A few clicks later you will have the news aggregator ready for use. As mentioned above, BottomFeeder is a cross-platform tool; it can also be installed on Mac OS X or various Linux distros.

BottomFeeder’s interface is divided into three panes. The one to the left presents your list of feeds. Select a feed and a list of articles will be displayed in the pane in the upper right. Select an article from the list and its content will be displayed in the lower right pane. Double click an article and your default browser will launch and take you to where it’s published online. From the Settings menu you can choose one of several UI looks and you can also change the application’s appearance. You can further customize the interface by picking one of several StyleSheets.

Using BottomFeeder is a very straightforward matter and if you’ve ever used a similar application before, you shouldn’t have any problems getting accustomed to the functionality. It’s all a “just click a button” matter. Just click a button to add a feed, click to discover feeds, click to read articles, click to share content. To sum it up, you are presented with all the functionality you would expect from a feed reader or news aggregator, and you don’t have to pay to enjoy this functionality.

BottomFeeder is a handy tool that will help you stay on top of all your feeds.

Pros

BottomFeeder is an open-source, cross-platform news aggregator. From a centralized location you can manage all your RSS and Atom feeds. You can customize the way BottomFeeder looks. You can easily share content with others.
